Hello FrontRunners, it’s that time again! We are pleased to introduce you to another of our longest standing members, Jeff Burger. Jeff is always pushing himself and those around him to do better! Come meet Jeff during one of our runs or social events!
So Jeff, when did you start running?
14 years ago. I was 47 years old. I read the results of the Delaware Marathon with all the runners on the list, and said to myself right then, I am doing that marathon next year. Which I completed. It was the first of over 12 marathons, including a couple trail marathons.
What is your proudest running accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment was completing the first of two 50 mile ultra-marathons that I’ve done ( the Schuylkill loop six times straight) as a lone runner for Back on Your Feet in Philadelphia.
What does being a Front Runner mean to you?
It is very important for me to be a FrontRunner. I greatly value the sense of LGBT community and inclusiveness within our group. Also, I enjoy meeting runners who visit our group from all over the country and world. The Philadelphia FrontRunners is 35 years old this year and I am proud of our group of runners.
Why do you run?
Running is my favorite thing in life to do. I love that it is the oldest Olympic sport and I greatly enjoy the freedom I feel running as it is solely your body performing the run, with the exception of sneakers if you wear them.
My favorite race is the Triple Crown held in White Clay Creek Delaware. If you do the Triple Crown . The trail race is a 1/2 marathon, 10k, then 5k all in succession. You try to complete each race before the start of the next one. You run in creeks, up hills, through the woods.

Delaware Distance Classic 15k 1:07:14
My overall goal is to complete all races within the top 20 percent of runners, and place in my age group.
